Traditional lessons learnt by students
WITH Naidoc Week not long finished, there was still more Indigenous-related fun and education for Isaac children.
As a special post-Naidoc treat, community member Dwayne Lazar dropped by Middlemount Library on Monday, July 18, to give local children a fascinating talk on Indigenous culture.
After teaching them several Aboriginal words, Dwayne proceeded to show the children a grinding rock which they could hold and pretend to use, an axe rock for scraping bark off trees, and a stone blade for removing skins from kangaroos.
The talk was followed by a group exercise where children dot-painted a four-metre Rainbow Serpent. The serpent, bright glowing yellow and decorated with multicoloured dots, now hangs across the walls of Middlemount Library.
Isaac Regional Council Mayor Cedric Marshall said it was great to hear some of the comments from those involved.
“Having members of the community come in to give talks is an excellent way to engage children so, on behalf of council, I would like to thank Dwayne for giving up his time,” he said.
Cr Marshall went on to say the celebration of diversity is an integral part of a child’s education.
“The Isaac region is extremely diverse in terms of its people, its environment, and its culture,” he said. “Showing children this diversity at a young age is important for teaching them our region’s past and preparing them for the future.”

The Rainbow Serpent is awakening and moving « Matarikidimension's Blog
Oh my word .. I have awoken this morning with such feelings of excitement brewing…how different from how I have been feeling for the last week or so!
Another brilliant message .. this one is from Robbyne LaPlant.
These are such exciting times to be living in.
Last night I had a dream. I was walking down a platform that was in the middle of a large pool of water.
The water began to move until it stood up on end like two enormous walls of water .. I was walking down the middle between them.
I awoke with the song – Dreamweaver on my mind ( Robbyne’s messages are called White Wolf Journeys – Weave the Web)
In this post Robbyne speaks of the serpent being awake and moving. Last year I had a message while meditating on the Sirian star energy.
`The snake is awake.’
Enjoy:
White Wolf Journeys
Greetings to the family of the Rainbow Nation
As our journey continues to Uluru, Ayres Rock, in the heart of Australia, for the total lunar eclipse, the intensity of this journey has certainly heightened. We were one of the last flights to depart Christchurch to Australia as the ash cloud from the recent volcanic eruption in Chile had made its way to the Pacific now grounding many flights.
We had just spent a week in the beautiful sea village of Akaroa, on the South Island of New Zealand, which lies in the center of an ancient volcano. The grandmother wisdom tree, which stands above the harbor called me to nestle within her loving arms under a starry sky and beneath the Southern Cross. I climbed to the top in darkness all alone to answer the call of a distant whale. The blackness of night, always brings me vision and I find my powerful time in the stillness of the darkness. I asked for clarity on the next part of my journey and how I could continue to be of service. As more and more people continue to join our spiritual community on a daily basis through Weave the Web, I am certain the souls of the rainbow tribe are being woven to gather again. There is a feeling of urgency to find one another and a huge sense of hope that the changes we are all experiencing will truly bring about the new dream.
I knew how very powerful the trilogy of eclipses we are moving through is to each of us individually, but I was yet to receive confirmation on the global impact these eclipses will have on awakening more and more souls to the remembrance of oneness and communion with all life forms. Messages continue to be shared if we awaken the shamanic mind to read the signs that are now everywhere. One very special message came at the time of the first solar eclipse, new moon on June 1 as a unique crop circle appeared near Wiltin, England, on the sacred lands of the ancient Druids.
