This debut LP by 21-year-old Belgian singer-songwriter Selah Sue (born Sanne Putseys) is a bittersweet listen this week, as her voice—and elements of her sound, not to mention her tower of hair— are reminiscent of the late Amy Winehouse. Yet Sue’s style is distinct, sitting at the intersection of soul, hip hop, reggae and folk, with acoustic guitar acting as the foundation for several songs. She’s on solid ground throughout, but soars particularly high on the tracks that embrace the bass, beats, scratches, synth squeals and patois traces. 8.5/10 Trial Track: “Please” feat. Cee-Lo Green (Lorraine Carpenter) from a list of 20, design a unique album cover and then purchase it for a few quid. Otherwise, hooligans can fist-pump to this static release, which thoughtlessly plasticizes 13 of those songs. Whichever method you choose, the end result will be boring soccer rock on your music player. 5/10 Trial Track: “Dead or in Serious Trouble” (Erik Leijon)METRONOMY Nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize, the third album by this band from Totnes, Devon, England, blends subtly psychedelic, soulful, poppy, playful sounds in a way that’s easy to enjoy and hard to pin down. Echoes of Pink Floyd, Phoenix, Hot Chip, Blur and Wire resound within these 11 songs, bearing as many playful overtones as it does strange undercurrents. 8.5/10 Trial Track: “Loving Arm” (Lorraine Carpenter)
COLISEUM/BURNING LOVE Usually live records are reserved for bands in the middle of a writing slump to tide over the über-fans between releases. But this split live release from two of punk rock’s fiercest is hardly discography filler as both bands remain impassioned and bloodthirsty in the live context and provide a perfect starting point for new fans. A major rager indeed with songs going far beyond their original airtight studio confines. 7.5/10 Trial Track: Coliseum, “Punk/Money” (Johnson Cummins)
BONG Riding high on the crest of the current doom/drone wave, this epic LP manages to hold more than its fair share of truly majestic moments over its monolithic minutes. Given that the band name is, uh, Bong, you pretty much know what you’re going to get here: slow and low trance-inducing ragga/doom/drone with molten riffs that oozes like black molasses. Prepare the bong!

Tara's standing moonsault to pin and Tajiri's “Tarantula” were well executed. Angelina Love looked sharp and her tweeked persona with Winter was smart. I liked her variation of the “Code Breaker” as well. Their double team move on MJames looked sharp.

However, if you run out of molex connectors without checking the amps and voltages to determine if it exceeds the capacity. I used the cable to avoid buying a new power supply. Do not check carefully and discovered that I was exceeding the capacity of my amp and power units could not take. My fault. So I bought a new SLI certified power supply and now everything works like a charm.
