No matter how you kick and scream, you'll eventually have to go outside and into the pit of fire giant called Summer Texas, y'all. Maybe it will be a sprint fast for your rental car, where the air conditioning is set on full blast. Or maybe it will be done to embrace the heat as he jumped in spite of a body of fresh water.

"Stay wet summer in Texas," said Laura Huffman, director of the state Nature Conservancy, "is equivalent to stay happy."

And oh, how joyful it is because the Lone Star State is not a hard, dry biscuit.Texas is high on the water, with about 150,000 miles of rivers and streams. (Note:. More than 80 percent of the state suffers from a severe drought, while Dallas-Fort Worth has received more rain than other areas) for an extra splash, the engineers impounded the water to create a surprisingly refreshing and expansive land o 'lakes. Texas has only one natural lake, and it's nowhere near Dallas-Fort Worth. The protozoan-shaped blue patches on my metro map are spring-fed (one) or dammed rivers and creeks that often lead double lives as recreation areas and drinking sources.

Three Rivers Refinery Capacity Used For Eagle Ford crude | Shale ...

In a July 27, 2011 report to investors, Valero Energy Corporation announced that they will begin processing more Eagle Ford shale crude at their Three Rivers, Texas refinery.  Valero’s  CFO Michael S. Ciskowski stated in the report that the company will increase the overall use of discounted Eagle Ford shale crude in its system which includes the refinery in Three Rivers. The Corpus Christi refinery will begin processing 25,000 barrels of Eagle Ford crude by the third quarter of 2011. The Three Rivers refinery will be processing 60,000 barrels a day of Eagle Ford crude by the end of the year.  Currently it is processing 40,000 barrels a day of EF crude.  The Three Rivers refining facility has a capacity of 100,000 barrels per day and the Corpus Christi refinery has a capacity of 340,000 barrels per day. A new truck terminal was recently constructed across the road from the refinery in Three Rivers to handle more Eagle Ford shale oil and condensate deliveries.

Reasons For Valero Energy’s Success In South Texas?

Heavy discounts on West Texas Intermediate crude  (WTI), compared  to LLS (Light Louisiana Sweet crude,) was a factor in margins at their South Texas facilities. Valero was processing over 37,000 barrels of Eagle Ford crude by the  2nd quarter of 2011, an  increase of over 12,000 barrels from the first quarter. Discounted  Eagle Ford shale crude, priced at that of WTI, has begun to replace expensive water – borne sweet crude being transported to their refineries, saving the company $16 a barrel in the second quarter.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude is under – priced compared to Brent crude and Light  Louisiana Sweet (LLS).  Eagle Ford shale crude is tied to WTI, which is considered to be devalued because supplies are “landlocked”.  Lack of pipelines in the Eagle Ford shale, along with lack of coastal shipping infrastructure, make West Texas Intermediate crude less attractive to refiners outside of Texas, since shipping costs are passed on to the buyer. As new Eagle Ford shale pipelines come online during late 2011 to 2012, WTI crude may rise in price compared to Brent crude. (This is the author’s opinion, not  Valero’s.)

The main products of Valero’s Three Rivers refinery are ultra – low sulfur diesel (ULSD), gasoline, and jet fuel.  The Valero refinery at Three Rivers is a main source of revenue for the town, which recently adopted the official slogan of “Three Rivers: Heart Of The Eagle Ford Shale”.
